Current Activities


April-June 2009

The following are the major short term initiatves in relation to the reform of the Health Act 1911 project.

Final drafting of the Public Health Bill based on public consultation and submissions

Drafting of consequential and transitional ammendments

Preparation of a legislation review programme in accordance with Government requirements and processes. This programme is being developed based on years of input and consultation from a number of stakeholders in particular Local Government who administer the Health Act 1911 and numerous associated regulations

Once developed input from stakeholders will be sought prior to undertaking reviews of specific regulations

The Environmental Health Directorates (EHD) focus is managing priority risks to public health. Whilst doing this the EHD is also assisting WALGA in drafting model Local Government Act local laws relating to nuisances.
